About Us
The Foeder Crafters story began in 2013. Matt Walters, a woodworker, inventor, and homebrewer, was building a bar for a new microbrewery and was asked if he could build a foeder. After finding out what a foeder is, he assured them he could do it and started designing an innovative, modern replacement for the tanks that had been used in Europe for hundreds of years. That first foeder made a big splash among the brewery community and soon the orders started coming in (literally - random checks would show up in the mailbox). Foeder Crafters of America was born.
After a few years, Foeder Crafters outgrew its old space and expanded into a new shop in Saint Louis, where we live today. The shop is staffed by a small group of guys who have not only great skill, but also a dedication to constantly improving their craft. The same tenet applies to our entire operation: constant improvement. Nothing is sacred or done ‘because that’s what we’ve always done’.
Today, our products are in over 500 breweries, wineries, cideries, and distilleries, across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. They are withstanding the test of time and helping our clients craft really incredible beverages.
Even more beautiful than the foeders!
